Spirit Meal : Judges 6:11-40
Today, we are pondering on what it means to truly know God—and how that transforms an ordinary life into an extraordinary testimony. Gideon’s story in the Book of Judges displays this truth powerfully. He began as a fearful man, hiding from his enemies, yet God called him a “mighty warrior.” The turning point in Gideon’s life—and the key theme for us today—was his relationship with God. *Those who know their God are not defined by the world’s standards, but by God’s calling and presence.
Gideon saw himself as the least in his family, and his clan was considered the weakest in Manasseh. Yet, God chose him for a purpose. Many of us feel unqualified or overlooked. But God delights in using those who rely on Him, not on their own strength. Gideon’s transformation started with a personal encounter with God. Despite his doubts, Gideon sought confirmation and reassurance through signs (like the fleece)—and God graciously met him. Genuine knowledge of God is not about perfect faith, but about continually seeking and trusting Him, even with our uncertainties.
Once Gideon understood who God was, he took bold actions: tearing down idols, assembling an army, and facing overwhelming odds. Those who know their God find strength to do what seems impossible, because their confidence is not in themselves, but in Him. When God delivered Israel through Gideon with just 300 men, it was clear: “ Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,” says the Lord. Gideon’s victory became a reason for national celebration—not of Gideon, but of the God he knew and trusted. You can act like this too!
