Spirit Meal : John 11:1-44
We have said this before and we will say it again. One of the most beautiful truths in the gospel is that mercy always comes before glory. The life of Mary and Martha in John 11 greatly displays this principle. Their brother Lazarus had died. Jesus deliberately delayed His coming, not out of indifference or being non challant but to let a greater revelation unfold. When He arrived, they were surrounded by sorrow, pain, disappointment, and loss. Is this your pain also at this time? Know that God is always in control.
Yet in the middle of their brokenness, Jesus offered mercy — He wept with them (John 11:35), comforted them, and then commanded the tombstone to be rolled away. What followed was not only a miracle but a manifestation of His glory — Lazarus came forth, resurrected from the dead! But this moment of glory was preceded by a moment of mercy — Jesus stepping into their pain and speaking life. At this moment, Jesus is stepping into your situation. He is speaking life now in Jesus’name Amen.
You, too, may be facing seasons of delay, pain, or buried hope. Don’t resist the mercy of Jesus. Receive it. Let Him weep with you. Let Him speak to your heart. Let Him roll away the stone. His mercy is not the end — it’s the beginning. The glory of God is waiting to be revealed on the other side of His mercy.
Don’t bury your hope when Jesus is on the way. Receive His mercy — even if it comes through tears. His mercy prepares the stage, but His glory is the grand finale. What He did for Lazarus, He can do for you — because He is still the Resurrection and the Life.
